That being said, I use Gen M3 Pmags myself because Pmags hold up to partially loaded drops and being stepped on a lot better than aluminum.

Would I go to war with 7 new Centers, Brownells, or Okays? Absolutely.

Apparently OP has never stepped on a g.i. mag...
Honest question here....not trying to be provocative. What makes an aluminum mag a REAL g.i. mag? What's the secret code that MistWolf mentions? How can I know if an aluminum mag is gtg or not? I got one with both my LMT and BCM rifles, and I assume they are the real deal, but how can I buy more and be sure that I'm not buying the junk aluminum mags you refer to here?

Here's a link to an absolutely GTG aluminum magazine for your AR. You can Google "Surefeed" or "Okay Industries" Magazines for links to internet vendors.

Aren't they the same company that manufactures Colt stamped mags but with these in the link they install the green Magpul follower?

In order for us to live as free men, we have to hate the violence that takes away liberty, yet at the same time, we must embrace the violence that preserves it. That is the paradox our founders appreciated and made work for over 200 years."

Yes, they make them for Colt and several other OEMs of ARs. The Magpul green follower IIRC is only supplied on their 30 round magazines.

Real g.i. Government Issued. Okay, Brownells, Center Industries. NHMTG would fall into that group. Everything from the past seven years have tan followers and work well. The guy that has all the problems os likely buying junk C Products or Elanders, or wore out trash from gun shows. I've never bought an AR mag spring and haven't replaced a follower in almost ten years. That's nonsense these days.

The Brownells USGI mags that I used were junk. On several that I tried, the follower would get stuck about an inch below the feed lips.
No thanks, I stick with my Colt USGI mags.

    And this thread is retarded.

Professional gunmen have no problem getting real OEM aluminum magazines.

They take up less space. They are no less reliable than a p mag and they weigh less.

They are faster coming out of magazine pouches because they don't have any ribbing on them.

USGI mags are definitely less durable than Pmags, and arguably less reliable.

Have a look at about the 12:00 min mark. Then the 22:00 min mark. The USGI mag failed. The tests are not scientific and border on abusive but the point here is that a Pmag offers extreme durability without any negatives over a USGI.

I need more mags for the impending rush around November so I just picked up 6 of these guys from Botach per your recommendation.

I don't know who makes DSG Arms or BCM aluminum mags, but I have been running both for years with zero issues.

Every now and then I pick up a 10 pack of BCM USGI mags and they all have been GTG. I have this little system whenever I buy a firearm part depending on the part being handgun or rifle I will toss a mag in my cart just for the hell of it. Depending what site I am shopping on I will also toss in a box of ammo. For example buying a buttstock from DSG grab a Pmag, new gasblock from BCM toss in a GI mag etc, if you shop for crap like I do you will have a plethora of mags in no time. I am sure most of you do already, of course that was only until they all were lost in that boating accident....
