As 'braces' go, these are the best looking ones I've seen. http://www.thordsencustoms.com/ar-ak...at-dark-earth/

and this guy clearly doesn't care what ATF thinks about 'shouldering' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmZhz9lV7qc

The video is also from 2014, when there was a ton of confusing wording from the ATF. That, or some people simply don't care

Apparently that guy Sootch00 was running a vert grip on an AK pistol and ATF called him and said no mas. I think if you are simply being stupid, they just tell you to stop. If you are knowingly being a criminal with an illegal weapon then I'm sure they won't mind adding on some charges.

I just ordered there SOB Brace for my DDMK18 Pistol and I hope I'll have it Saturday ? One thing I plan on doing is removing that strap since I have NO plans of putting that brace around my arm so I'm going to remove that strap or replace it with a shorter one to just keep the bottom closed. Any suggestions ?

    Thanks.....

Oh ya I found one online for $129.00 with free shipping, these are not cheep so I hope this does not end up in the junk box with all the AR parts I'm not using.
Anyways here is the brace, pretty good looking I think.

My KAK tube, KAK blade and LAW folder work reliably on a 10.5 CMT upper and Spikes lower... The pistol is 5.56.
    Does that answer your question?

The strap pulled tight helps to stiffen the brace. It also gives you a good place to attach a sling.

The ID of the SOB is larger than the OD of a pistol RE. I wrapped the RE with gaffer's tape until the SOB fit tightly.

I suggest that you look into using an A5 pistol RE. Sometimes I use a 16 inch upper on the pistol lower and use the SOB against my shoulder. The extra length would be welcome and wouldn't have a negative impact on it's use as a simple cheek rest
