Do they weld the barrel extension onto the barrel?

Meh. Even if you know a basic class for something (4140, 4150 CMV, 416) there's a lot of things you don't know about the barrel steel as finished. I'm always curious about the details, but I'm not a metallurgical engineer, and simply knowing an alloy type doesn't tell me every last thing about the barrel's durability or other properties, it merely gives me a basic general idea of what to expect.

Product reviews stating "Only 4 stars because I haven't used it yet" are an idiot's signature.

It's their product. They can be as secretive or not, as they choose.

So what is the current quality of these barrels?

Looking at thier website they seemed very reasonably priced.

Would people compare them to other barrels in the market like a Noveske that is 400$+ ?

My most recent LaRue barrel has a slightly undersized gas block journal. I measured gas block ID and barrel OD 0.749x" with my Mitutoyo caliper, but the gas block just slid over the journal. I've used several of these SLR gas blocks on various barrels and they've never fit loose, so I assume it's the barrel. Not a huge issue, but annoying.

Did you contact LaRue? If there is an issue I am sure they would make it right.

They are running a half off sale till July 4th. I picked up a 16" stealth barrel during their last sale for a recce build I was doing and I am very happy. Easily out shoots me and is sub-MOA. I think at full price they are expensive and clearly you should look around at the competition and find the perfect barrel for your needs and it may end up being the LaRue. But at $200 its a steal and its a fair comparison to a Noveske.

My recent experience with a 12" Stealth barrel has left me dissatisfied. Yes I contacted LaRue and sent it back. Their cryptic response when it was returned was that it was in spec.

There is apparently a reason these tubes are affordable in price... :-(

Yes YMMV and as a generalization I think LaRue has some great products.

Rearden Steel is indeed a tongue-in-cheek ref to Atlas Shrugged. My thought, anyway. It was a new super steel that did everything better.
