G43 or PPS M2?? Needing Quick Advice.

I am considering both of these for pocket or smart carry and cannot find either to shoot so I am going off no experience. What I can say is that I have had 2 Shields in the past and sold both as I didn't care for them. What info I am going off of is from other folks' opinions.

PPS M2 - good trigger and ergos. Shoots like a full size but that is because it is larger than what it should be.

G43 - smaller and more concealable. Some people have reported stiffer triggers than other Glock models.

I have a decent deal pending on both but require driving an hour to meet the person. Problem is one is an hour east and the other an hour south.

PPS M2 with night sights and holster - $460
G43 stock - $450 (all my LGS are out of stock and have a waiting list)

The honorable mention here is the Ruger LC9s. I have shot and shot well with this one. I just am not sold on Ruger's long term durability after seeing some shitty SR-series' QC issues.

Persuade me either way. I am looking to make a deal by tomorrow morning.

I have no experience with the PPS M2 or the Ruger LC9, but I wouldn't trade my G43 for anything.

Yes, the trigger is a bit "stiffer" than a G17 or G19, but due to the small grip circumference and the ability to get more finger on the trigger, I find no noticeable difference between making consistent hits with it versus a larger Glock. I have the TALO edition G43, so it came with Ameriglo sights already installed that appear to be very similar to the Hacks.

My G43 is my absolute favorite handgun. As of last weekend, I have approximately 1200rds though mine, with the latest session running 400 thru it. Not a hiccup, burp, or any semblance of a malfunction.

Both great guns but I'd go 43 over the PPS. Simply due to the fact that the Glock will always be easier to find parts, holsters, mags etc.. Walther has always been a bugger to find parts, sights and is overly complicated for detail stripping if needed.

Real question, did the shop have spare mags for the PPS M2? Have they even started shipping extra mags yet? Last I looked I could find the gun but literally not a single extra mag.

I only have experience with the Glock 43 so I gotta vote that way. The Glock 43 fits into my carry rotation easily because my other carry guns are Glocks. I don't have any issues with the trigger. Sure it may be a little stiffer than my Glock 19 triggers but it's nothing to lose sleep over. I don't use mag extensions or anything like that. It has been reliable and I enjoy shooting it. I pocket carry and smart carry the G43. I'm not sure how big of a dude you are, but I'm 5'10", 200 lbs, and I find the G43 a little big for pocket carry. The slimness is fine but dimensionally, overall, it can be somewhat hard drawing from my pocket holster. Yes, I have tried pants and shorts with bigger pockets, use a proper holster, etc. etc. I found the J-frame much easier to present from the pocket probably due to overall geometry differences. Regarding smart carry, super easy to do but I find that the G43 sits pretty low in the holster pocket to the point where it is a little difficult to get a proper grip when drawing. I think I'll try to fill the very bottom with some material so that the G43 doesn't sit so deep.

    That's my $0.02. Good luck.

    Here is my 2 cents.....

I also dabbled with the Shield on two occasions. Both had significant extraction issues, including phase 3 malfunctions, multiple trips to S&W to no avail.

I purchased a G43 and PPS M2 to vet as a replacement for my 642 BUG. After approx. 500 rds through both, I have settled on the G43. The reason is based on the ability of the G43 to feed RA9T while the PPS M2 did not. (which is my preferred carry round).

The two piece feed ramp of the PPS M2 can cause "some" truncated cone rounds to stop @ the ramp guide ( much like a un-tuned 1911).

The PPS M2 I have will feed my secondary carry rounds (124gr +p Golden Saber GSBM9mmB and Gold Dot 124gr +P) without issue.

I also have found that I have better control of the G43 in "support hand" drills than the PPS M2. NEITHER handgun has shown any propensity for erratic or weak ejection.

My goal is to have the most dependable single stack 9mm I am proficient with, so YMMV.

    Good luck

PS. My primary carry is an H&K P30s

    I just picked up a PPS M2 and haven't had hands on a G43

The PPS shoots well and conceals easily IWB so the "extra" size doesn't bother me as I don't pocket carry.

I wanted to point out one small feature that I really like on the PPS that I don't see mentioned very often. It has a visible/physical cocking indicator on the rear of the slide that makes me more comfortable on re holster as I can keep my thumb on it to make sure the trigger isn't caught on anything.

Most people may not even care for this feature, but I am newer to CCW and like the extra piece of mind.

You can't go wrong either way in my opinion. If I used Glocks as a common platform I would most likely have gone G43.

The PPS is a fantastic gun but if I were buying today I would take a 43. Excluding the M2 since I haven't played with them, Glock has a superior magazine without the goofy baseplates of the PPS. With a 43 there is an actual market for sights and parts so you can change your gun to your liking and there are more than just a handful of sights like the PPS. Holster options at least for my needs haven't been an issue for the PPS, as far as kydex goes they seem common enough to be offered, I've been using a clip-on Dark Star Gear. Although the PPS has been over the 4 years with mine and IMO was the best single stack before the Glock was released, I like the options Glocks market offers, I know what I like and I can change the gun to fit those needs, PPS not so much.

I plan to move to a 43 over the PPS in the future, ghost connector, ssvi trigger, light firing pin block spring, maybe threaded barrel to **** around with suppressors or even a blacklist industries comp they've teased to go with one of their 43 barrels and build somewhat of a mini single-stack roland special type gun.

Also very much appreciate this feature, and is the reason I'm waiting for the Glock 43 Gadget to be released before I move on from my PPS.

    I'll throw in my .02 since I've had a few Glocks and currently own a gen4 G21, a Walther PPS (M1), and an LC9S.
Either the G43 or the PPS is a solid buy.
Out of the box I'd say the PPS will have a better trigger if the M2s are the same as my M1.
Glocks have a TON of aftermarket support, so if you want to spend the extra $$ someone will have the trigger setup you want. Same for holsers, lights, lasers, etc.
PPS does have the option of 6, 7 & 8 round mags. I like 7s for carry and 8s for backup/range use. With an 8 round mag it feels like a full size pistol. Glocks have available mag extensions but no factory options.

The only two issues I've had with my LC9S is the front sight came loose and I had two light strikes with some S&B ammo. Same ammo ran fine in my Shield 9mm, but may have just been bad luck. Front sight was an easy fix BUT this is a problem going back for years so it's not an isolated incident. Ruger's customer service seems to be good but minus points for QC. Smaller & lighter than the G43, Shield or PPS, but harder to control as well. Both the Shield & PPS are soft shooters compared to the LC9S. But out of all of these, the LC9S is the most 'pocketable'.

I dry fired an early G43 and didn't think it was as good as most stock Glock triggers. I've heard they've gotten better.

Apparently they're shipping with a new connector from what I've been reading.
