    Least smokey/odor powder for .223 and .308?

I've blasted factory ball ammo and after a while of breathing the smoke I get a severe headache and sinus problems. On my last outing I didn't keep complete track of my different batches but it SEEMS like h335 is the worst but AA2230 and h322 are better.

I'm not looking for stellar accuracy or velocity out of my .223 55gr or .308 147gr blasting loads.

What are the better powders for less smoke and odor?
Do you even get down innagrass, bro?

H335 is pretty clean burning, the only powder I find to stink is CFE233.

    IMR3031
    Win 748
    Varget
    H322
    Xbr8202

Try those for 223, sorry can't help with 308

    I also love AR COMP

    Thanks.

I also shot some PMC X-TAC 5.56 XP-193 and that crap was awful. It was smokey, terrible odor and flashes like a fireball. I wonder what that powder make-up is similar to.

What is the length of your barrel, is there a comp/ flash hider on it?

I use a lot of h335 and I actually find it to be very clean and I've never seen much flash, wondering if your rifle is an SBR.

If your getting gas through the charging Handle or running suppressed the PRI gas buster handle may be your ticket also

It's a 16" with an A2 FH. The flash of the PMC ammo isn't a big deal. It's a documented issue with that ammo and I'm not sure why I mentioned it other than posterity.

If you pick a powder and a charge weight I can give you an idea of the burn % in barrel with quick load software

That charge is very light, cold contribute to the smoke if the powder didn't get enough pressure for a full burn

I shoot a lot of hornadys FMJBT,this is a safe load but work up to it for saftey anyway

    25.0grain h335
    CCI#450 primer
    2.200 oal

That's a popular load with many, some run 24.5gr with good results

Quickload shows your only getting 39,591psi with 23 grains with and 89% burn

Bumped up to 25grain shows 51,681psi with a 94% burn
