    DD's new rail...no barrel nut?

Does Daniel Defense's new rail not use a barrel nut? I know the .308 rifle does NOT use a barrel nut, per DD, and the new MLOK rails look similar to the one used on the .308 gun, but I looked at one today, and the 4 screws are TINY! I would NOT trust them to act in the capacity that the one's on the .308 gun do, at all. However, when I looked for a barrel nut, I couldn't see one, either. If it's there, it's VERY short. Is it there, or are those 4 little bolts stronger than they look, and it's a mini-version of the .308 gun, with no barrel nut?

Which rail are you referring to. Their slim line has a nut in the pic on the web page.

    Well...

On the KAC URX4, the handguard IS the barrel nut, and the timing is handled by using shims of different thicknesses. Maybe the new DD handguards use a similar mechanism?

OTOH, the DD barrel nuts are about the same size as a castle nut, so it might be hard to see them when installed.

It cannot be like the URX4. Anti-rotation tabs...

Best I could tell from the picture is that it uses a similar system to the Lite Rails and RIS. Bolt up with a barrel nut.

That would be my guess as well. Looks like a backing plate.

You realize that not only do we have a DD rep here, but you could also contact them directly and ask rather than some "sky is falling" post.

Per a thread elsewhere from Joe Marler who is here as well.

The old MFR Rail had it's own very unique barrel nut that wasn't usable for any other rail system.

Current Rail systems (DDM4 Rail, SLiM Rail, RIS II, and soon to be MFR XS) will all use the same barrel nut. The DDM4 Rail and SLiM Rail acutally share the same Bolt-Up Plate which makes going from one to the other very easy. The RIS II and MFR XS will have their own Bolt Up Plates. Long Story Short, if anyone has a DDM4 Rail Or SLiM rail and wants to put the new MFR XS on their rifle, it's going to require removing everything from the barrel in order to install the new mounting hardware.

I simply asked if they had a barrel nut or not. I didn't mean to "start something".
