A heat gun and rubber hammer to put it on. Tap gently on the front and it slides right on. Heat gun rubber hammer and a wood dow rod to take off. Put the dow rod on any part of the back of the rail. Tap gently until a gap open between the rail and the reciever. Then put the dow rod at the back of the top and tap it off. Rail can be installed in less than 2 minutes including heating it up.

Thanks, I'll put that in my notes. I'm pretty sure I did it one of, if not, the most difficult way possible.

Yep. Did that recently. Not a completely destructive buggering. But I did need to use a hand file to smooth the area I peened up so that the rail could be installed. Real smooth.

I believe says somewhere on the KMR packaging or instruction booklet to use a heat gun. I used my wife's hair dryer. I also slipped once but then used the 2 finger keeping the teeth engaged and flush method and since have never had an issue. If your not comfortable with this grab another hand to hold the barrel nut tool flush as another recommended. I have seen some really jacked up barrel nuts due to the slip.

Yes, and it was discussed here as well. Recently I did a KMR-A install and it was a PITA. It also doesn't heat and expand like the Alpha.

I bought a used original KMR here on the EE, the nut was already very slightly buggered and the inside of the rail was very slightly scored, when I installed the nut I buggered it up more, just like you described, I filed down the burrs and installed the rail, gtg. I figured it was just normal.

Same issue with my geissele nuts. Got a used one that was buggered but still fit. Did not look pretty though. New one that deformed on instal. They sent me a new one no questions / cost though and it's been fine.

Ugh. I had the same issue with a Geissele barrel nut. I deformed the small hole where the torque wrench slides in. I over-torqued it a little and it started to egg the hole out. Geissele was good enough to replace it no charge. Lesson learned on torquing stuff down.

Funny you should say that. I decided to go to YT and see just how others were dealing with it. There are a couple well known names and I just happen to hit that first. There is an edit in the video where this one person, seasons the threads and after the video edit you can see the marred nut slot. Also he was both installing and removing the nut with the torque wrench but that's a different story.
