Would it make sense to use XM/M855 (vs. XM193) for training, if using bonded 62/64gr for HD?
Would the performance (e.g. POI) be more similar?

You could use either cartridge for training. Start a rifle log and document changes in sight settings for each round you shoot. That makes it easy to know how many clicks elevation (up or down) and windage adjustments you need to make when shooting different rounds.
If you are using a RDS and don't want to change sight settings, you'll have to verify how close the POI of the M855 is to your HD round.

What kind of training? Unless you're shooting a precision rifle course or shooting at extended distances, commonly available 55-62 FMJ will be close enough to defense loads in that weight not to matter. Go shoot a 10rd, 100yd group with each to a B8 bull. If both are in the black, you're GTG.

Less difference due to projectile weight than to velocity and barrel movement.
Widely different cartridges can share very similar 50-100 meter trajectory, and some similar cartridges can be significantly off.
The only thing that matters is what they do in comparison.
Thanks for the replies gents.

Yeah.. shoot them and see. At distance, the M855 will fly (in my experience) way over the POI of a bonded load. M855 does almost nothing well except "fly" somewhat efficiently.
