+4 ... But yeah, like the others have said drop the Spikes buffer and switch to an H. Also, BCM has top notch quality service (as I'm sure you know) if you can't get the problem fixed on your own contact them and they will make it right. Problem solved

I will replace the spikes buffer with the BCM H buffer as mentioned when I go to the range on Saturday. I just find it odd that I have used this buffer and JP enterprises polished buffer spring in every one of my rifles before and never a single issue. The previous BCM upper that was on this particular BCM lower was the same 14.5 ELW, A2X, mid-length gas system, etc. Only difference was it had a fixed iron sight opposed to my new kmr-a upper. I find it hard to believe that the extractor my be the issue since it only has 57rds through it, but understand it might not completely be out of the question. I have another new BCM lower and upper that I'll shoot saturday as well, I guess I can try that BCG too. But I will send BCM a email when I get off work at 0600 this morning!

    What type of magazine?

Maybe I missed that info somewhere.

I had military green followers cause squirrelly issues feeding an upper once.

    God Bless,

    Brandon

They were two different Magpul Pmags both gen2's. I plan on bring a few USGI mags with me as well on Saturday just to make sure.

Load a dummy round (or live round at the range), remove mag, slowly pull back charging handle with gun pointed normally, not tilted. Does the round pop out of the ejection port or dribble out either out the port or down the magwell?

You could also pop out the extractor and make sure it's straight (lay it on a table).

" I run the A5H0 buffers and standard springs. The whole "super soft shooting, with no recoil" trend has drastically reduced the safety margin of functional energy out of a lot of these rifles"
Exactly! There is a reason BCM recommends the A5H0 for their rifles. BTW.. The OP should edit the title of this thread. This is not a BCM rifle problem.

He didn't even mention what he ran the A5H0 on.

Plenty of people run heavier than that on 14.5" & 16"...

Side note: I've noticed when you quote people, you copy/paste their text into your post. It's much easier for other members to reference your "quotes" if you use the actual "quote" function within the thread. That way we can actually see who you're quoting & have a direct link to where they said it.

I sent BCM an email and they replied with an automated reply saying they'll get back to me lol

I just found this in the BCM subcategory - basic troubleshooting, its the last paragraph referring to new builds...

"Now assuming you have these issues on a new built weapon, then you may need to go past the above advise and look at some other areas. Issues like this are most commonly involved on shorter barreled ARs. With a shorter barreled AR (generally 14.5”, 11.5”, 10.5”, 10.3”) you have about twice the pressure in the system with less dwell time (shorter than 14.5”) and a faster unlock time. One of the issues that needs to be addressed is slowing the cycle rate of these shorter barrels. This is done in part by the addition of a tungsten weight buffer. The M4 carbine runs a H-buffer and the M4A1 carbine runs an H2 buffers. There are also H3 buffers that see some use. Also stronger recoil springs will provide some aid. If all else fails you may need to look at gas port size and/or confirm that the chamber is not cut too tight."

I wouldn't have bothered them until you try using a standard USGI spring with an H buffer.

Also, is this just a new upper, or a new, complete rifle? Either way, put that lower back to the factory config & try it again.
