Brand New BCM rifle --I MODIFIED-- *Failure To Eject*

    What's the issue?

Rifle specs: BRAND NEW (first time shot) Complete BCM 14.5 Enhanced Light Weight upper, mid-length gas system. Spikes heavy buffer. Adequately lubed everywhere. The gas block seems to be strait and the set screws are still tight. Casing seem to be ejecting strait out. Used two different types of ammo, Federal .223 & American eagle 5.56 as well as two different Pmags.

First 20 rounds, flawless. Finished my 25yrd zero with no problems, until round #25 (See first picture) Dropped the mag and cleared the malfunction, round #28 (See second picture) Dropped the mag and cleared the malfunction, inserted mag with the bolt locked back, pressed the bolt release, *Click* No fire, Pressure check, no round chambered. Charged a new round and fired until the last round #30 (See third pic). Every time this happened, the spent casing was not extracted, and a new round was pushed into the feedramps, both stuck and to dig them out with a flat head screw driver. The second mag, same issues...

Did you try a different buffer? How does it work with a normal H buffer?

Return the gun to its condition on delivery and test fire. Determine if its the "brand new BCM rifle" that's malfunctioning, or your modification(s).

Get rid of the Spike's buffer and (I'm assuming) spring. Fire it like ST911 said, stock and see what happens.

Start with a correct H buffer. If you have the O-ring on the extractor spring, remove it. If that doesn't work contact BCM and address the issue.

Trobleshoot this first as a lower issue, not an upper issue.

    USGI spring, H buffer, test.

Different situation, but just as an example, even with my A5 receiver extensions, I run the A5H0 buffers and standard springs. The whole "super soft shooting, with no recoil" trend has drastically reduced the safety margin of functional energy out of a lot of these rifles.
