I'm not from Missouri but you need to 'show me' for me to believe anything from ArmaLite. In other take a picture....

Troy front sights are made for rails that are equal to the receiver height, I've not seen gas blocks that are equal in height to the AR10 upper receiver from ArmaLite...........are these new? If so how long have they been making them. The only .308 AR gas blocks I've seen that are equal it height to the receiver is from DPMS.

My recommendation would be to get a low-profile VLTOR gas block, pin it and get a long enough rail to cover it and either get a MI or TROY folding sight or a fixed LMT MRP front sight and be done with it.
I'm not understanding this question. And I'm not sure if you are making the Troy connection, but the Troy that Blankwaffe is referring to is not Troy Industries, but an employee of MI named Troy. This individual claims Armalites gas blocks are machined to non-standard heights, and that's why MI's front BUIS doesn't allow a proper zero. Are you suggesting in the opening that Troy Industries makes proper sights and you should go with those instead of MI?

Blanwaffe subsequently measured the heigth of his gas block and it appears to be within a couple of thousandths as listed by Paul from Bravo Company, the inference being that Paul knows his stuff and that this Armalite gas block appears to be within industry standards.

Somewhere in the thread we got to talking about .308s, not sure where that crept in other than I mentioned Troy lists two different front BUISs, one engineered for .308s and one engineered for AR15s, and that if Blankwaffe got the wrong one, I could see where he could get into problems. Maybe I missed the conenction, but the discussion of the .308 phenomena seems to be clouding the issue. I swear, I need a program to keep up with this thread......

    Question

I was referring to Troy the person at Midwest Industries...not the TROY brand sights.
The folding front sight Ive been talking about is the Midwest Industries part #MCTAR-FFG for the AR15 gas blocks pictured above.

    fwiw,
I set up and sighted in an Armalite M-15 for my friend with the above mentioned gas block and a set of front and rear MI buis. There were no problems sighting it in.

Troy at Midwest Industries called me this morning and confirmed that the specs I came up with on my gas block are correct and that his sight will work perfectly.
He went further to say that if it there is a problem he will do whatever it takes to make it right or take the sight back...he stands behind his product 100%.
A man could not ask for any better than that.

    Tall and Short Gas Block

I have a CMMG M4 LEP and it has a tall gas block. This gave me fits when buying a front sight. I had to purchase on sized to fit on a forearm rail.
