I've got both sizes on 16" barrels. One thing I noticed with the 15 is the muzzle blast gets the lens on my WML (12 o'clock) pretty dirty after a mag or two. I guess that depends on your muzzle device and where you mount your light too...

I prefer 15" to minimize ghosting/shadowing by my light, less barrel in the way.

Really arm length and preferential hand positioning will make the difference. Unless you're running and ir illumination box then you may want more rail space.

I like a 12” rail for a 16” to show off fluting or for easier access to an adjustable gas block on my hunting/target rigs. Otherwise for a defensive/fighting upper I have a 15” on a 16” barrel. It protects the barrel, mounts buis, bipod and light further forward. A little extra weight on the end helps with follow up shots, theoretically I suppose. My thoughts on all that.

I have the 13" & 15" over 16" barrels, slightly less weight out front with the 13", better esthetics with the 15" IMO, both are very handy & have plenty of mounting area, if I could only have one it would be the 15"

It really depends on the type of build you're looking to put together. Barrel length plays a factor as well.

Wow. 7pages on which length handgaurd should one buy. This site is getting arfy lately.

I am a believer in less is more. When it comes to my M-4 too many add on's can induce a malfunction. Having said that, I like a long rail just in case.

15” rail on my 16” gun. I like the extra rail length so I don’t have to worry about it when shooting off barricades and such.
