    AR-15
If I was filling out that form, I'd put "AR-15 9MM Carbine" and attach a pic. You're not going to have to engrave it, so it's not like picking the longer version makes you do extra work. If that's not what they want, they'll send you and error letter, most likely with a suggested correction, and you'll probably lose 2-3 weeks. With my luck, it wouldn't matter which one I picked, it would be the wrong one.

Other option is to just out AR-15 as model, and then 9MM Carbine in 4h to cover additional markings on the firearm.

There is another option now. It's pretty epic.

Silencer shop has just gotten their electronic form 1 filing on line. Basically it works like the ATF form 1 system should have worked, but didn't.

Silencer Shop had most of my info on file from my last pre-41f purchase (including my trust). I had to find a Silencer Shop dealer that had a Kiosk, and have my digits electronically scanned (that cost me $40). I had to download their app for my phone, just to take a picture... but that's all it's needed for, and I can delete their app now.

Just a few minutes ago, I logged onto their web page and 'purchased' a Form 1 and a tax stamp. They emailed me a link. I clicked on it, and it took me to a form. I entered the manufacturer info for the rifle I'm SBRing, and the measurements. I clicked 'submit'. It took less than 5 minutes. I'm done.

Everything will be reviewed by a Silencer Shop specialist before they submit it to the ATF. If they see any problems, they'll contact me.

For $40, I don't have to send photos, fingerprints, law enforcement notifications, or find an envelope. Hell yeah.

I don't work for them, or get paid by them, but I'm impressed. The extra cool part is that I'm working overseas, and I can bang out form 1's without having to be at home.

That does sound pretty epic. I don't know how they get around the part about having your original fingerprint cards signed by a LEO, but if they satisfy the ATF, that's good for me. Let us know when it gets approved.

You can roll your own prints and no LEO signs them. I have a local dealer (no connected to Silencer Shop) that has a LiveScan machine for prints and no LEO signs then. There's no requirement anywhere for LEO to sign FD-258LE cards for NFA submissions.

Interesting. There's the space for "Signature of official taking fingerprints". I've always just assumed that it had to be signed or else the cards would be rejected. Have you actually received a stamp when you sent in finger print cards that were not signed?

Just sign your own name, as you're the one that took them. There's no Certification or License or anything else required to take prints. It simply says "properly equipped" to take them.

(To be clear, Explosives have different requirements, so be sure of what you're looking at when you search the www)

Slight update; when they were reviewing my form 1, they found that my beneficiary needed to submit fingerprints and photographs. For various reasons, that's not possible right now, but the Silencer shop 'single shot' trusts don't need to be notarized (I'm overseas right now)... So I'm going to proceed with one of their trusts.

Even with the hangups, it's still easier than doing it the standard way.

Interesting. Did they provide any explanation?

Is your trust set up different than most? Does the beneficiary have another role as well? Is it clearly spelled out they can be in possession of the items.

    Just want to clarify,
    Should I include instruction pages?
Should I put 5.56MM or 5.56? the Colt reciever is marked 5.56MM
I am going individual route this time, is any extra engraving necessary?
Do you use paper clips to keep the check, fingerprint cards and copies of the forms organized?
    Thanks for all the help!

No need to include the instructions.
    5.56 is fine.
Name, city & state where firearm is made, and caliber (if it wasn't already there like yours is) need to be engraved. No different for entity vs individual.
    Paper clip is fine.
