My understanding from reading other posts is that the conversions are coming later than the complete rifles. Does anyone have any info on the 12.5ish conversions?

Thanks for all the info. I had no idea that I had to have my upper sent back to have a sleave installed before the installation of the piston parts...

    Thanks,

    Wally

Maybe a silly question..... Do you have a H2 buffer in your Piston MRP?

Alright, put your lernin' hat on...

In the DI system, gas comes into the carrier and then pushes the bolt forward from directly behind the bolt, no "moment arm" to cause problems.

In a piston system, the piston pushes back from the TOP of the bolt, tilting it. This must be engineered for.

    Wally,

Just for clarification, before sending your MRP off to LMT, make sure yours isnt already equipped with the metal sleeve inside of the gastube hole. As I stated earlier, all of the recently manufactured direct impingement MRP uppers already have the sleeve installed. If you have an old one like me, you will most likely have to send it to LMT.

May I ask you what difference it makes?

It's a piston. There is no gas tube, therefore there is no gastube "length". The gas doesn't go very far once it flows to the gas block. There are no pressure issues because you just design your piston/cylinder to deal with wherever you decide to put them.

The only way I could see it making any difference is when deciding what handguards would fit it, but that point is moot since this is a MRP-only proposition.

Nothing like asking a moronic question...twice. Thanks for clarifying the stupidity of the question.
