Interesting how the solicitation was written, in effect, to read that any pistol of any design from any vendor was eligible for consideration, as long as the items submitted were/are Smith & Wesson M&P .45s.

Guess they'll have to clarify the meaning of "double action" in that case. I'm still trying to figure out what a "tritum" sight is, but it reminds me a lot of tritium. LOL

The agency performed testing and relied on other agencies' recent testing and procurement results to select the pistol. Now that the gun is selected, they put out an "OR EQUAL" solicitation. Other companies will write them justifications for why the SIG P220 or G21 or XD45 are "as good or better" but in the end BEP will have an easy time with the procurement unless one of the other gun companies really wants to step in and fight for a couple hundred guns.

To kind of piggyback on that, seems like more agencies want .45:

That particular group has been using .45's for a very long time.

They should skip the .45 and go with the .50!
