They indeed are. There are about a million ways to politely ask for your stamps. They picked the rude way.

They don't deserve any more of your money.

Also, any LEO who has an issued SBR means the department had to get tax stamps, and that the dept has them. There's nothing to "get on" in that regard.

Not exactly, but a couple years ago my church grp was shooting on BLM land and the ranger started measuring barrels with his tape measure. He was most interested in a shotgun that was in the group. No infractions, and was quasi-polite after. Since, they have closed off that area to shooting.

I went to a range 2 years ago for a class and it was posted all over their ranges so that it was impossible to miss. "Paperwork required to be with all NFA items on range property"..

All ranges I have been at leading up to now have asked but my new range doesn't give a damn the RSOs are pretty cool and always just wanna look at my SBRs and cans and it always sparks up convos about what they want, have or are waiting on.

Every time I go and other people are present someone else has NFA items and I've never seen anyone be bothered by RSOs or staff when they are present.

I think they might actually appreciate the cans since we are an outdoor range in the middle of the suburbs.

The ironic part is that the ranger didn't know shit; the only way to properly measure a barrel is from the breechface of a locked bolt to the muzzle. Best done with a wooden dowel.

That would have ended it for me right there. SBRs and NFA items in general are a common sight in my area. Lots of Fed, Mil, LEO and just good old fashioned firearms enthusiasts around here. No one really bats an eye if a guy shows up on a lane, whips out a silenced sub-gun and starts launching bullets downrange. I think a lot of it just has to do with folks around here being acutely aware of the law because they pay attention to it, and they just assume that about most other folks around here. Generally speaking, we tend to give the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise. I've had plenty of folks approach me at the range to compliment my guns and gear, or to simply just check things out. But I've never been asked to show proof that everything is legal. I've always been prepared to do so just in case, but it has never happened in all the five years I've been into the NFA game. If I were to ever be treated like a criminal at any of the places I frequent before I had the opportunity to provide proof to the contrary, I would end the relationship with that establishment right then and there and would publicly make it known to others. The last thing we need is a bunch of flashlight equipped wanna-be NFA enforcers out there playing hall monitor.
