    That was a great post. One suggestion would be to break the areas down and give examples of equipment needed for the range.

    #1. good rundown. appreciate that.

    #2. I had a coworker (now deceased) that was a big ham guy. at one point he mentioned doing a "moon bounce" for long range. he said if you could both see moon you could talk. he never did sat what frequency band though. know anything about that?

    It's called EME (Earth-Moon-Earth) or Moonbounce. Generally on 2-meters nowadays. You'll need a high-gain antenna and sensitive receiver.

    Great post. A few more weeks when I move away from hurricane central, I'm going to start getting serious back into Hams.
