    Aluminum cased handgun ammo accuracy?

Is aluminum cased handgun ammo less accurate than brass? If were gonna be more specific Im talking about the federal aluminum cased stuff at walmart for less than $10 a box.

Can you shoot a handgun well enough for it to matter?

I have not shot aluminum in a few years, but never noticed a difference. Our state law enforcement academy shot all blazer aluminum for years with no complaint about accuracy issues.

I've shot an ungodly amount of this stuff with complete satisfaction, and my several 9's ate it.

I shoot this almost exclusively in 9mm and 45 ACP. It simply cannot be beat for the price. I've never had a failure caused by this ammo. I've not noticed a difference in accuracy compared to other range ammo. Then again, I haven't really shot much other handgun ammo the past few years. Really, the only time I don't shoot Federal Aluminum is when it's time to recycle the SD Ammo, or try some new. Regarding the latter, I also haven't done that for a while.

    For me...

    Range/Practice ammo = Federal Aluminum

Self Defense ammo = Federal HST

Haven't found a reason to change either.

I haven't tried with aluminum specifically, but tula actually shot very well out of my gun. Ime, handguns seem to show good results with weird loads. Tula shot better than surplus duty ammo, but also nearly blew my gun up.

In short, shoot it to see how it performs in your gun. Crap loads will still be decent at 25yds or so if your gun likes it. A good load could shoot like crap if your gun doesn't like it.

    Please elaborate....was it higher pressured?

Never had any accuracy issues with either Blazer or Independence aluminum, though I had an OOB with some Independence stuff with an overly long round. Either is still high on my list for blasting ammo especially when I can't or don't want to retrieve brass.

This ammo is good to go.
Somewhere in the Terminal Ballistics forum, Ive got a post with chrono info out of a G17, G19 and a G41. Excellent range ammo.

Blazer 124gr is my go-to range ammo for 9mm.

    Here's a 10-round group at 25 yards a long time ago.

And a more recent group at 25 yards with my space gun.

My Glocks eat it right up. It's been very consistent and shoots well in my guns. I love it.
