We'll see in a month, as I'm currently consuming it for 100% of meals and already have bloodwork scheduled for next month. Others have already done similar experiments with zero detrimental affects to their blood results, energy or mood. I'd love to see what your DIY formula would look like as many already do make DIY Soylent and add whatever they like. There's even a team at UC Berkeley studying the affects of Soylent on the microbiome. I'll keep the forum updated once I get the comprehensive results, but it's Day 5 already and honestly I feel great.

Edit: Many already consume Soylent for all or most of their meals and are perfectly healthy. If you don't believe me head over to the Soylent subreddit and ask them

This is just another shake promising to cover all nutritional needs of humans, and not even terribly impressive. For example, here's a nutrition label I pulled on one product. First ingredient (malto) is cheap as dirt and crappy carb source. Second ingredient is Rice protein. Nothing special about that. Third is oat flour, easy and cheap to get (I like Bob's Redmill brand), and forth is a common an cheap thickening agent. So you have cheap stuff and a vite blend. You get a very low dose of EPA/DHA. That's it.

Get past the market hoopla, etc and down to what's in it, it's neither unique nor even close to complete nutrition long term and using cheap off the shelf stuff. They have other products, and the labels vary in terms of ingredients, none of them impressive in the least. Second engredient in another I looked at was corn syrup, which is straight up garbage. Remember, some think Ensure is good nutrition and use it for an MRP too. It's your $ and your health. I been in the biz a few decades now and you're getting some inside info. Use it as you wish...

Finally, I don't recommend anyone replace a larger portion of their food intakes with any pre made products, but so far, best one I have tried to date is probably Ample (1) and Full Strength (2) are pretty well designed products.

Soy does not appear to be the primary protein used and the dangers of soy vastly overstated. At the same time, wouldn't make soy protein a large % of my protein intake regardless as it's highly processed, and lower quality than say whey, etc.

1.3 is 3 years old. Their current blends have much better ingredients, but I'm not surprised you posted one from 2014. You claim their ingredients are cheap, and that's part of the appeal. Sorry I don't have the money to order all the highest quality foods and vitamins, I'm a full-time college student trying to support myself in the SF Bay Area. For me, $1.50 per 400 calories of well-rounded nutrition works, not to mention the ease of use. Again, you aren't the only nutrition-conscious person out there, and many of them consume and design Soylent. Maybe when I get a well-paying job after college I'll have the time to shop for and prepare nutritious well-rounded meals every day, let alone be able to afford that. Go to r/Soylent and take it up with those guys, they are perfectly healthy and get regular checkups.

Feel free to post the nutrition label of any version you wish with superior ingredients. I do this for a living, including designing such products, and or consulting on, such products for major companies and the like. I gave you the best advice you're gonna get on the topic. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him think. Good luck.

Dude, it's not that hard or expensive to eat clean or healthy for that matter.

    Soy protein
A new soy protein isolate adds improved digestion, smoother texture, and a more robust amino acid profile.

    Algal oil
Produced efficiently in bioreactors rather than traditional farms to conserve enormous quantities of natural resources while providing energy and essential fatty acids.

    Isomaltulose
A slow-metabolizing disaccharide synthesized from beets offers sustained energy without the spikes of refined sugar.

    Vitamins & minerals
Each bottle of Soylent 2.0 is designed to include one-fifth of all essential micronutrients.

I'll make sure to let you know how my test results turn out next month. I'm going to be testing for as many variables as possible, so since you're such an expert maybe you could recommend some markers that I should ask for or that you'd be curious about?

You're a poor college student who can't make food but can run all manner of medical tests on yourself? Soy is still sub par, Isomaltulose which is another name for Palatinose which is essentially sucrose with more fructose and less glucose. It's garbage. Look up sucrose... a low dose multi vite added, yippie. Added EPA/DHA is a plus, but a higher dose for less $ can be had in a simple fish oil product.

Fancy terms and marketing for non science type and general public sells products, but it does not change a thing. It's not even above average formula and over priced to boot. You drank the Koo-laid and have expectations and personal investment now, so unlikely to listen or take advice.

It's like when a person comes here to tell people how great their High Point pistol is or BM AR and get corrected, usually taking their toys and going home.

My school covers the medical expenses, and you still failed to recommend markers for the blood test. Since you're so hell-bent on badmouthing the product, maybe you forgot the part about how I'm testing it on myself to arrive at a sensible conclusion. If my levels are deficient in anything, I'll take the necessary steps to fix it.

So I'll ask again: what should I test for?

"I received a blood test on the first and last days of the experiment. Both tests came back completely normal. However, the first blood test showed several categories that were outside the reference range or “normal.” Neutrophils, SGOT, and SGPT were all above the average while my lymphocytes and eosinophils were slightly below. Interestingly enough, the results of my final blood test showed that everything was back to normal!

I wasn’t expecting that, but the blood tests don’t lie – I became a healthier human being after 30 days of only Soylent."
