Well. Ive got the 2, 3 and 4. So it sounds like once I get the block on, I'd run the standard 2 and rock on till I get the funds to buy this barrel.

The profile is drool worthy! Nice work, Clint.

What is the hybrid crown like?

Typical AR barrels have a flat faced crown with a small 45 degree chamfer at the bore.

Target crowns often have the 11 degree face across the full face of the barrel, leaving a delicate sharp transition at the outer edge, or at the threads in the case of a threaded muzzle.

The BRT Hybrid Crown has a flat portion near the muzzle threads and a large 11 degree face at the bore.

This retains the accuracy benefits of the target crown, while making it more robust.

    Clint, PM sent!

I'll be ordering one of these as soon as I find out what the original port is drilled to!

Looks like the KAC length intermediate tube is used?

I'm 100% in agreement with Clint and elephant rider. I've got one on pre order.

Clint and i have been saying for a while now that this intermediate gas system with an optimized port size is simply a better mousetrap than any 16" middy. ESPECIALLY considering the proliferation of suppressed setups being employed by users.

Clint has developed the best combination of gas port diameter and gas system length, that functions in the widest variety of setups (suppressed and unsuppressed, light bullets and heavy bullets, SAAMI ammo and NATO pressure ammo, clean and fouled, etc) that you can shoe-horn onto a 16" barrel.

Now, it is certainly possibly to make a 16" rifle length gas system barrel work. Several companies already have. But it won't have nearly the margin for function when dirty or the breadth of operation with varying conditions (bullet weight, ambient temperature, amounts of fouling, etc) as Clint's barrel. And, that's not opinion, that's just math.
I agree completely. I've been saying something similar ever since the KAC SR15 was introduced. But everyone freaks out because: "proprietary". That is somewhat understandable with the KAC system and the higher than average cost of KAC parts. Then Noveske came along with their intermediate system, but never really capitalized on it. A purpose designed, 16" intermediate has been a long overdue addition to the market.

I've also always thought that the 14.5 midlength was a shortcut to the 16" intermediate "feel". The concept is the same, balancing gas drive vs dwell time. The fact that you can pin a 14.5 to 16" OAL, overshadowed what I thought was it's real value. Being, a reliable and very soft shooting platform when properly gassed.

I'm very excited to see Clint bringing this to market, especially at a very reasonable cost and with 99% parts commonality.

And with $10 mark-blue gas tubes, to boot. 😉

Agreed. This barrel will, if it performs as i expect it to, be my new patrol rifle barrel. As happy as i am with my Faxon 18" GUNNER, i anticipate this will eclipse it in terms of shootability and accuracy.

Glad I'm not the only one. I just finished a Sionics build and I'm contemplating swapping the barrel out for this.
