Cool New Build from a Noob!

Hey all, this is my first build ever. I wanted to share my Colt M4 Ops (.22 LR) so far.

    Stuff I've added so far:

    Magpul stock
    FAB pistol grip
    Sightmark red dot and magnifier
    Magpul AFG
    Badger Ordnance charging handle latch
    Troy offset BUIS
    MFI fake silencer

I'm hoping the image links below go through, but if not, I'll find another way to post pix.

I'll admit, this is really just a plinking toy, and considering I live in good 'ol Kalifornistan, I don't have to register this as an assault weapon since it's in .22. That said, I'd have to say the one piece that I feel makes this build complete for me is the addition of the MFI fake can (http://mfiap.com/i-7437374-mfi-m4-na...universal.html).
This thing is solidly built and clamps directly over the barrel with 12 set screws; once it's on there, it's not going anywhere. The laser engraving is top notch. It's placement over the barrel accomplishes 2 things: 1) It gives the rifle the appearance of a SBR, 2) At the same time, it doesn't overly offset the balance of the rifle since it is not attached at the muzzle. The plain jane M4 Ops was already pretty close to an actual M4 in terms of weight and handling, and the can's solidity only enhances that feel. I am more than pleased with this piece, and while I had actually considered wrapping it with a silencerco wrap, the workmanship put into the can is too pretty to cover up. Range report is pending, but from what I've researched, adding the can will not affect trajectory, but the can will get hot (as expected) given enough rounds.

    Welcome to M4carbine.net

With that being said, putting parts on a factory gun is not a "build." This is not a custom build and does not belong in the custom build forum, so don't be surprised if a mod moves, or closes this thread.

Why are your optics on your rail? Move it back.

You'll likely find it difficult to maintain a zero.

Typically, folks mount optics on the receiver to minimize the amount of roll that the rail will undergo during use. Further, bridging the gap between the rail and the receiver is a no go: recoil causes flex that will impact the optic and the mount that it is on, breaking one or both, and likely messing with th zero point. Do some digging around on the subject, and you'll note this.
