    Switch Caliber Colt

Found a 70 series, 9mm Colt and a pre-70 .38 Super slide and sent them to Jim Milks (Innovative Custom Guns) with a punch list.

I have another 9mm/.38 Super with just interchangeable barrels (Wilson), but it's a PITA when changing calibers- in terms of rear sight adjustment.
The Wilson just remains a 9mm due to the sight issue.
The answer seemed obvious; an additional slide.

I had the frame welded to tighten slide(s) to frame. Ramped, Kart barrels were used.

The Super upper shoots 1.25" @ 25 yds. with 147 gr. XTP's @ 1200 FPS. Subjectively, recoil was similar to .45 ACP.
I like the idea of an eleven round, "low end .357 mag" that's easily controllable.
The pistol will be carried in this configuration.

The 9mm upper is probably for range use only.

This is awesome! What's your load for that 147gr at 1200fps?

    I'm using HS-7/Win. 571.
This is a discontinued powder- I have a couple 8# kegs left over from USPSA competition years back.
    I have used HS-6/Win. 540, AA#7 as well as N-105 with success.

    Agreed.
He's done another project I like as well.
Jim ran EGWs Custom Shop when they had one.

I have and love HS-6 for my 38 Super. I've had great results with it and the 115gr XTP. I don't shoot my Super often enough, but it never disappoints.

Very nice! The super is an often overlooked round.
