That was Grade A good damn detective work. We probably need to hire some of them and put them to work.

Educate me. These quotes are from a fellow POW who would not vote for McCain:

People often ask if I was a Prisoner of War with John McCain. My answer is always "No - John McCain was a POW with me." The reason is I was there for 8 years and John got there 2 1/2 years later, so he was a POW for 5 1/2 years. And we have our own seniority system, based on time as a POW.

Was he tortured for 5 years? No. He was subjected to torture and maltreatment during his first 2 years, from September of 1967 to September of 1969. After September of 1969 the Vietnamese stopped the torture and gave us increased food and rudimentary health care. Several hundred of us were captured much earlier. I got there April 20, 1965 so my bad treatment period lasted 4 1/2 years.

The letter/story goes on to relate that McCain's treatment and experiences mirrored that of other POW's and ends with this:

Senator John Sidney McCain, III is a remarkable man who has made enormous personal achievements. And he is a man that I am proud to call a fellow POW who "Returned With Honor." That's our POW motto. But since many of you keep asking what I think of him, I've decided to write it out. In short, I think John Sidney McCain, III is a good man, but not someone I will vote for in the upcoming election to be our President of the United States.

I haven't read anything more detrimental than the statements this man made about McCain's captivity and conduct. I freely admit I am a McCain fan. He's a bit of a red ass, but long ago I remember each session he would introduce legislation trying to limit pork barrel politics and that legislation would go nowhere. Additionally there is his work on campaign reform. All these lead me to believe he is for fairness and for the people.

You may disagree with his political stances on issue's, I understand that, but that doesn't equate to misconduct as a POW. If you have proof otherwise from credible sources point me towards it.

    Thanks.

Once upon a time, you needed evidence to besmirch the wartime service of veterans and POWs. I suppose that time has passed in favor of political expediency.

I'm not a big fan of McCain's politics. I disagree with his comments to the media yesterday. However, I'm not qualified to sit in judgment of his wartime service, and I doubt that anyone posting in this thread is qualified.

I cant say anything bad about McCain's service. I've never had to walk in those shoes and fro everything I've read he went through hell and came out the other side with his honor and dignity
As someone who lived in Arizona for a number of years, politically he has dropped the ball. He is either a very moderate progressive or a somewhat conservative liberal, but he isn't who he professes to be politically anymore and certainly no longer a Conservative.
He's got a lock on Arizona, but for the life of me, I cannot understand why, he simply doesn't represent anyone outside of the liberals in Tucson or Phoenix.
He had his shot at the oval office, he blew it, now rather than retire and fade in to obscurity, he picks fights with guys who are Conservatives, I don't understand it.

His attempt to remain relevant and appeal to all voters in order to keep milking the golden retirement benefits he keeps building along with the all the dollars from insider trading that U.S. Senators and Congressmen are permitted to do...

Retirement benefits? The guy is 80 and just won re-election for another SIX YEARS. He stands a much better chance of dying in office than ever seeing a dime of his Congressional pension.

As for the insider trading allegation, he is worth $21M with about $16M of that derived from family real estate sales, a book deal, and the current value of his home. He has made less than $5M in investment earnings over his career which is actually low for someone of his net worth.

Finally, tax records show the guy donates between 15-25% of his income to charity each year. Do you think that you can match that? I can't. I'm too busy buying things that go pew pew pew.
