I have used the Magpul MSR-4 and HSP convertible 2 pt/1 pt slings on my SBR, which has an 11.5 barrel...I also use Mappul's QD mounting hardware on the MS4 (HSP sling comes with QD hardware)
Run a couple of classes with this set up and not had a QD failure, but thats a small smaple size, and I've never had trully hard use...

For SD in my house, or some other CQ environment, I like the 1 pt version, as it makes changing form right to left easier...when I've carried it in the wilderness, I use the 2 pt almost exclusively, as it is much easier to carry it close and tight to the body while walking. I do not like using a 1 pt with 16" barrel, as it whacks me in the knees (or worse) walking around...

I have no battlefield or combat experience, so I can't speak to that...

At one Vicker's class I attended, in his opening remarks Larry commented that one student was using a Magpul sling. Larry stated, "Call me nostrodomus but before the class is over that rifle will hit the ground". It did before the end of the first day. Since then, I have observed two other Magpul slings failing and dropping rifles to the ground.

Take a look at the Blue Force Gear Vickers Combat Application Sling.

There are some niches where single and two-point slings shine. For all the in-between, it's kind of a preferential thing. It only takes one day with the wrong sling setup to figure out what does or doesn't work the way you need it to, so I'd commit to a good sling setup, any good sling setup, and see if it works for you. For a pistol/SBR, I might commit first to a single-point, as long as I didn't expect to need to go hands-off.

And as far as QD... I've used MI HD swivels almost exclusively, which have a flush button. I have never had a point slip in a few years of frequent usage. I've primarily used BCM steel QD sockets (KeyMod, endplate, and stocks), and MI aluminum sockets, for whatever its worth. I'm skeptical of most QD sockets, I hate clips, and and refuse to use paracord, so for me, it's either quality QD hardware or simply running the ends of the sling through whatever loops already exist.

Spend enough time on the range and you will see every brand and/or attachment type fail. So let's forget about the one time in band camp stories and be done with it. OP, pick one of the name branded two points and don't worry. The one Magpul sling that allows two point to one point is most likely your best bet for what you want.

Hey thanks for the opinions guys. I went with the Magpul MS4 QD option. Pricey but quality. Also, good thing my Geiselle MK4 had two built-in QD points on each side. It helped me narrow down the choices.

FWIW I set up all my AR's with two and single point QD sling attachments for versatility and it doesn't add weight. I also use a MagPul MS series slings and they have worked well so far. That said I'm feeling pretty impressed about the Vickers Combat Application Sling - it looks pretty bombproof.

Funny you mentioned this, I looked them on their website two or three times and when they went on sale I looked again as they email me their sales. After looking at it when I checked it again it was down to $47. & change, I bit. I also have a carbine with a Vickers padded QD sling and another carbine with the Magpul MS3 sling.
