Same thoughts here. If they are building these in a small amount to be collectors items, as opposed to building them up to be shooters, it negates my interest and I'll stick to my SP1 or other clones as well. While it would be a nice weapon to own and shoot, I'm simply not in a financial position to pay collectors pricing for something I would be using as a blaster. The SP1, or M16A1 kits make better purpose driven shooters.

Hopefully the forgings are something Colt looks at as an offering in the future. Using a LW barrel on the M16A1 upper brings strong interest to mind.

Take the below weapon, and screw on the M16A1 upper, and I think they would find a market.

    Stick

Board policy mandates I state that I shoot for BCM. I have also done work for 200 or so manufacturers within the firearm community. I am prior service, a full time LEO, firearm instructor, armorer, TL, martial arts instructor, and all around good guy.

I also shoot and write for various publications. Let me know if you know cool secrets or have toys worthy of an article...

From what I can see, SP1's go for over $2k. So the new Colt's will be inline with that, but be 100% (right down to the Safe/Semi/Auto markings).

That makes more sense in that case. My hope is still that they use that upper for other projects. Not everything has to be a run of thousands, and since the other parts are already in house, it would give some additional options.

If Colt was smart, they would have a limited run of A2 upper receiver assemblies with M4 feed ramps that are correct. They could probably sell thousands of them with little effort.

Agreed. They should just make it a production item.

Would love to own one of these. Unfortunately, as a lefty, and with no deflector, I would probably be chewing on brass.

Any chance we can get clear pics of the roll markings, including safety markings? Thanks in advance.

Would be uber cool if they did replica "PROPERTY OF U.S. GOVT."

It would be a fun gun to add to the stable. I shoot everything, so....

I like the FN collectible too, how do these compare ? Grant or any one ?
