Yea that is cool. I'm right handed and I never did this but during rifle qual some left handed shooters used the cardboard inserts from bandoleers as a field expedient brass deflector. I don't remember how they attached it to the upper but it was used a good bit. Especially with really inexperienced shooters.

Very nice, too bad Tom will probably never own one. $2500 list, probably more in reality. Just too expensive.

Do the Colt's 20" AR15 A4's have M4 feed ramps, F marked front sight post?

Yes on the M4 feed ramps, hit and miss on the "F" marked front sight bases.

I have no idea about their commercial offerings, but MiLSPEC A4's use a rifle barrel and upper. No feed ramps.

I was only talking about the commercial version, you are correct about the mil version.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.
The stock (D type) on the one that was pictured was used on the Model 603/XM16E1 and the Model 604 (slickside upper/no forward assist-Air Force issue). Model 603/M16A1s used the E type stock. The 3-prong FH was used on Model 602s, early XM16E1s, Model 604s, and was known to have been used on some early M16A1s, but not a great deal of them. Most M16A1s were produced with the birdcage FH as was some late XM16E1s. For a short while, Colt was using whatever was available to fill orders. If Colt is having U.S. Ordnance produce the rifle in that configuration, it is not a true M16A1. It is more like a hybrid as it is a combination of the XM16E1 and M16A1. As for lower receivers, the XM16E1 used a partial-fence lower as did the early Model 604s. Late 604s and the M16A1s had full-fence lowers. Personally, I will stick to my clone builds. They are more correct than this new Colt rifle.

These are clones I have done. You will notice some of the differences.

    Model 602

    Model 604

    Model 603/XM16E1

    Model 603/M16A1

All parts original Colt, except for the lower receivers and some of the fire control group parts.
