Grant, are these marked M16A1 or XM16E1 like the one at the NRA show?

Great. Is the rollmark the US Government version or the commercial version? Also, When pre-orders are available, will you announce on here or send out and email? Excited to see more pics.

I would maybe go 1600 or possibly 1700 just because I have a fetish but 2500 is SR15 money.

Have fun those who get one.

If I was to spend $2500 on a retro Colt AR-15, it would be an early SP1. Not about to pay $2500 for a reproduction Colt just to have the M16A1 and AUTO markings on the lower. For those that will buy these Colts, enjoy them.

    True that.

I don't understand the price point of these rifles.

You can go fully legit for half that and build it up on an NDS reciever. Plus think of the history- most of the A1 kits floating around were re-imported through El Salvador.

I'm a lefty, and started in 80' with a SP1. No brass in the face at all from what I remember. I wouldn't worry about it at all if you really wanted one.

They were supposedly IDF contract overruns made by Colt ("C" mark on the barrel). So not a true A1 replica I know, but it has "The Feel" and can shoot the newer heavier bullets!
For me, the look and feel of the original M16A1 is what I am after and a lot of other folks too. I don't have a need for anything slower than a 1-9" twist. Just doesn't make sense nowadays when your installing a new or NOS barrel anyways.

I have two retro Colts....a M16a1 and a Colt AR15 model 614. If these new Colt retros were like $1600-2k, yeah I'd own one, maybe two. At $3k, no thanks I will just enjoy my real retros.

I wish they would offer multiple throwback options through the custom shop and make them more in the $1500-2k range. Would love semiauto 639/640 sbr with functioning moderator, M16A1 marked 653 sbr, M16A2 marked 723 sbr, M16A2 marked 733 sbr, M16A2 COMMANDO marked 933 sbr.
