I will second running it wet and seeing what happens. Do not worry about having it too well lubricated when the gun is so fresh. I run my AR's soaking wet for the first 500-1000 rounds and that seems to work out for me. I would venture an uneducated guess that a weak extractor or weak ejector is the issue like many others have said. DPMS GII, KAK, and LMT are just the few .308 guns that use dual ejectors to get more reliable ejection.

Well sports fans, the BCM kit solved the issue. Ran 40 rounds through it without so much as a hiccup. Shot some slow, and some as fast as I could with no problems.

Once I was confident that it was resolved I was able to do some shooting. Not bad first results for a semi auto with non match ammo and no rear bag.

I thought the BCM extractor spring kit is for 5.56 AR-15's. Is this supposed to be compatible with 308s? Perhaps it just depends on the make, since 308 ARs vary so wildly (no standard).

Could you revisit and explain exactly what the remedy was?
It appears to really have made a difference;Tuning' the BCG.
Clearly an non-issue resolved (mostly) in the AR15 world - 'when in doubt get the BCM upgrade'...;-)
    Thanks.
