Bolt catch/release loss of spring tension

Last night I noticed that the "ping pong paddle" on my rifle was rattling. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that is little to no spring tension on the piece, and it flops around freely. As the video below will show, gravity is the only thing that holds it down. Just to clarify, I am not touching the lever at all when I turn it upside down; that is all gravity.

I noticed this problem after separated the upper & lower, added some oil to the gas rings, and snapped the two halves back together. The gun has never been dropped or banged before.

I can still lock the bolt back and release it, and it still locks back on an empty magazine, but I am concerned about the loss of spring tension. What would you guys do about this?

    Replace the spring.

Were you running a BAD lever (or something similar on it)?

Ok (as that is the main cause of that spring wearing out). Who made the LPK?

BCM. It was a complete BCM blem lower purchased from G&R a little over a year ago. I don't say that as a criticism, however, as the lower has been fine up until this.

Ok. It might just be worn out. You can replace it if isn't locking the BCG back.

Swap it out. When you drive out the roll pin, try to only drive it out enough to release the catch, spring, and plunger. This will make reassembly much easier because the roll pin will already be "started".

You may find that the spring has slipped over the plunger or something. It's odd for that spring to wear out... usually they're too stiff.

I'm wondering if the spring didn't snap in half and collapse in on itself.
