10.5 Suppressed - Stovepipe and Round in Chamber

First off, I have searched here and on google and I have only found one thread on this. If someone knows of a thread that covers this already, please let me know so the moderators can close this one.

    Unsuppressed:
    -Rifle shoots perfect unsuppressed
    -Strong ejection pattern
    -Consistent last round hold open

    Suppressed:
-50% of the time the rifle shoots great for all rounds in the mag and locks back after the last round
-50% of the time the spent case of the next to last round will stovepipe, but the bolt will strip the last round out of the mag and push it into the chamber
---This leaves me with a round floating in the chamber and an empty case stovepiped in front of the bolt.
    -Strong ejection pattern

    Rifle:
    -B5 Stock
    -Vltor buffer tube
    -Mil-Spec Buffer and Spring
-Spikes Lower Reciever and Lower Parts Kit
    -DPMS Upper Reciever
    -Mil-Spec Charging Handle
    -10.5 Barrel - 556 1/7 (Brand Unknown)
    -BCM KMR Handguard
    -Vltor Low Pro Gas Block
-Suppressor - Griffin Recce 7 and mount

    Ammo:
    - XM193

    Mags:
    - Lancer 30s

Try different mags and get back to us.

If the mags are cleared of fault, try a heavier buffer. A 10.5 should run an H buffer just fine unsuppressed and suppressed.

I'll try that, thanks. Do you think I should look at a heavier buffer spring or extractor spring?

This thread has some good discussion about springs if you haven't already read it: https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread...essed-SBR-Ever

    What BCG are you using?

I can think of a number of things.

    1. Unknown 10.5" barrel. Most of them tend to have gas ports like Jenna Jameson.

    2. "MILSPEC" buffer. What exactly is a MILSPEC buffer? You should probably be using an H3 at this point.

    3. The mathematical for this is as follows. X= Unknown barrel +Y= Light(er) buffer + Z= Hot M193= You need to get an H3 buffer most likely to help.

Leuthas - I'll check out that thread. I'm currently running a NIB bolt carrier and a standard bolt from brownells.

Iraqgunz - I bought the buffer and spring online years ago and it just said both parts were "MilSpec".

    I'll try the H Buffer.

The buffer is usually - with quality equipment - the most significant variable in altering your system; I'd go with an H3 as Iraqgunz suggested. The 'milspec' spring and buffer are probably just standard carbine.

Do you know your barrel make?

I don't. I bought it at a gun show about 10 years ago. It is just stamped "556 NATO 1/7"

I'm looking at going with a 10.5 Faxon barrel in the future.

Weak ejection/spin-back due to increased bolt carrier velocity due to increased back-pressure from suppressor.
Recommend replacing buffer with H2 or H3, and a new action spring, which will slow down bolt carrier speed.
Replace ejector spring with new, ensure that the ejector is free of any burrs, clean and lubricate ejector hole (hehe).
Might want to step back from LC XM193, lotsa known issues with that ammo. If you really want to stay with the type, American Eagle 55gr has shown to be more consistent and cause fewer "issues".

Try an H2 buffer. Spikes ST2 is my favorite.
