AGB needed for suppressed BCM 14.5" ML?

I'll be running an Omega on my 14.5" BCM LW ML upper. Currently it runs like a top with blue sprinco and H2; soft shooting with a smooth recoil impulse. I'm having the gunsmith unpin the FH and repin an ASR FH. I'll be adding a longer rail at the same time (ml magpul currently) and I'm contemplating shaving the FSB down vs AGB to run an extend rail. Thoughts? Thanks

An AGB is an extremely good investment when building an SBR that is intended run suppressed and not suppressed. I have one on my 6.5 grendel build and I'm so glad I went that route it makes me smile every time I see it in the safe or take ir our to shoot.
    In other words GET IT!!
You won't regret it and I can guarantee that. You could regret not getting one for sure down the road though. My humble opinion.

SLR. Best and only real option for suppressed SBRs. I have several and they're the only block I use personally or on customer builds. They're several threads here on them. I've used others; all have seized up and failed.

Thanks. I have a JP adjustable on my 20" Grendel rifle (which will also run suppressed) and could notice the difference when dialing it in.

Leaning to the SLR for the detent tactile feedback which should be easier to repeat swapping between suppressed and unsuppressed. The Superlative bleed off is interesting as well.

    Another vote for the SLR.

I have one on a dedicated suppressed sbr and once I got the gas setting dialed in I don't mess with it except every few hundred rounds I click it back and forth to make sure it hasn't frozen up with carbon, so far no issues.

Give some consideration to the type of rail you select, I recommend one with sufficient I.D. to clear the muzzle device in case you need to remove the rail to get at the block. Also, depending how much space is between the end of the rail and the base of the muzzle device/suppressor may affect how easy it is to stab the adjustment screw while the can is mounted. Making adjustments is easy with a 10" rail on a middy gas, even on my sub freezing outdoor range after sundown with gloves on. With a longer rail you may need a longer tool than the one supplied with the block, or have to bend the tool to clear the can, or you might be able to poke the allen key through the slots in the rail.

SLR sentry set screw. I prefer mine in Ti.

Also consider the PWS steel body buffers in H2 or H3 weights. They keep the bolt locked slightly longer than a std buffer design due to their heavier bodies.

They're also excellently finished. They more closely mimic the A5 system in the carbine action. With an AGB no need necessarily to move up in buffer weight.

I do have a couple A5 RE/buffers kits with A2 and A4 weights. I've never used the A5 system just picked up a few for future builds. Should I go ahead and swap the carbine RE/blue sprinco/H2 for the A5 since I'm doing everything else?

If you're already doing the other stuff, I would go A5H2 and a sprinco green. I think the swap would be worth your time. The breadth of operation is just larger. I have my 11.5" Sionics RGP barrel and my 18" Faxon Gunner (rifle gas) barrels, both with SLR Sentry set-screw Ti's, tuned to use the same lower. Both are tuned as low as they can go with the can-on (according to the relatively coarse adjustments of the SLR blocks; 15 settings), and both still function without the can, when dirty, using only a limp hand-hold and no shoulder purchase when using 5.56 NATO ammo.

I would not be achieving that breadth of function without the A5 system. Period.

So, is it absolutely necessary? Nope. Is it a huge benefit? Absolutely yes.

if you have no problems with over/under gassing leave it be.
should you want a adjustable gas block without modifications look at a adjustable bolt carrier group.
    bootleg and gemtech.
