    SF pistol techniques

I had the occasion to see a local SF group running some hostage drills (or something similar). Essentially they were approaching to do a snatch and grab.

They were only running handguns ( don't know why). They all rolled up with handguns up near their face and elbows flared outward. What is the deal with this? Thanks for any input. PM if wanted for Opsec.

I would say they were using handguns only because it's easier to go "hands on" with a pistol than a long gun. And keeping the pistol in close is to it from being snatched and keep it out of the way while still being able to engage.

There are several compressed muzzle-high ready positions like you described, nothing unique to SF. You didn't post enough to worry about any TTPs, and a lot of that stuff is open source already. Despite various rifle-fighting mantras you won't always have one, it isn't always the best choice, and an awful lot of a serious work can be done with a HG if you know what you're doing.
