I've use a couple of his mounts on ARs for various lightweight optics. They've worked well enough, though as has been mentioned already these days there are excellent alternatives. Beyond that I've heard numerous stories about mounts coming loose on harder recoiling rifles (not .223 ARs) and with heavier optics. On the topic of Mark himself his conduct on the internet speaks for itself, but I've also heard more than a few stories from various industry professionals that just make me shake my head.

Setting the bickering and personal preferences aside, the contact patches of the mount/rail clamping interface of Mark Larue's mounts are very small compared to ADM, Bobro, and GDI (as well as I am sure others I haven't mentioned). This is their down-fall, in comparison.

Bobro has supplied the most impressive RTZ results I have heard of, followed by GDI, and then ADM, of that group. YMMV, depending on who you listen to.

I personally prefer the Bobro, because of the tensioning mechanism. There is no guesswork, and there is no manual adjustment. You put it on and go. RTZ is nil. Literally UN-measurable, per Andrew Bobro, regarding Trijicon's testing using laser devices. I don't know the technical name of the setup, sorry.

While I dislike Mark LaRue, I will use the best gear I can source, based on my knowledge. I am open to learn, of course, but for me, right now, that means Andrew Bobro's product. As a bonus, Andrew Bobro does not busy himself about an industry forum arguing with people and insulting their parents and their service to America. He does keep his ear to the ground, though, and manages to make the best damn mount you can buy (in my opinion), without any pomp or snarky icons added.

ETA: I don't think it's terribly off-topic to bring Mark's behavior into the picture in a thread titled "...some random thoughts.", even if it is a bit non-sequitur with some of the other information/thoughts. It's not my call, though.

Good point, I just try to stay in the good graces of the Mods around here and we generally try to steer clear of the TOS drama. If anyone wants to dig into the Larue drama, it's not hard to find over there. His personality speaks for itself. While I've never personally had a bad experience, I prefer to do business with people that maintain a higher level of professionalism and don't publicly attack every single person that has a product issue. It's childish.
