Im debating on weather to use the G2 led or G2ZL combat light to put on my M4. The G2 is $65 and the G2ZL is $110. They both are 80 lumens and 12 hour runtime. So is the G2ZL worth the extra $$$? Thanks

I'd say, if you plan to keep the light mounted on a rifle, go with the G2L.
If you plan to train/use the light with a handgun, get the Z (The ring helps with various techniques)
You should also consider the 6P-L, all metal construction.
Batteryjunction.com has a sale with some pretty good extras on all those lights (extra batteries and free shipping type stuff) I just got a bunch of batteries and a Surefire LED upgrade.
Go with the standard G2L. The G2ZL is designed for handheld use in conjunction with a handgun.
Now, how do you plan to mount the G2L? I prefer the VTAC mount for the G2L placing the light in the 10:00/10:30 position when mounted on a railed handguard. It works, it is dirt cheap (less than $20), and it is rock solid.
the v tac sounds good. I was also thinking about a vltor scout mount. I think there about 30 bucks or so. Im not quite sure where ill mount it. either 3 or 9. I want it easily activated my thumb when using a vertical grip. This is my first build. So ill have to play around with it and see. Thanks for the advice! g2l for me![]()
+1 to this all the way!
If you prefer a VLTOR mount check out their new offset mount. Similar to the VTAC but QD with thumb screws and it's aluminum.
The 10-11:00 placement is really easy to activate with the thumb, and gives the weapon a lower profile which helps protect the light from blows from obstacles and reduces the chances of the beam being obstructed as well.
