Gas block for Colt 6920 barrel

I obtained a colt 6920 barrel that already had the gas block removed. Otherwise I would have shaved off the front sight. Since the barrel was origanlly set up for a pinned gas block should I stick with that? Or would going to a set screw be ok? The size for colt is .625 correct? It will be covered by a free float rail. I'm open to a lot of suggestions here. First build BTW.

    Thanks in advance.

    A 6920 barrel will be a .750 gas block.

It's a .750. Set screw should be fine.

ADCO can re-use the original pin locations, if you want to go that route

This is what I would do. it would drive me nuts to have two pin holes and then a dinky a$$ gas block that didn't use either of them.

I would use a set screw low pro gas block. Pinned GBs are overrated, especially under a rail. You're also limiting your rail selection based upon the barrel that behind your pinned GB. Go with a set screw GB & you can easily swap rails till your hearts content.

You can swap rails that use different proprietary barrel nuts without unpinning your GB??

Gas block for Colt 6920 barrel

No...just ummm, take the pin out. It's not like it's a welded pin like a md.

Plus the way he's doing it he could have whatever barrel nut he wants put on by adco. Or ship it with the fsb pins loose.

Or he could just use a set screw gas block...

Pinning is unnecessary under a FF rail. There's also potential alignment/fitment issues when trying to utilize existing holes. Sending it out to do something unnecessary sounds like a waste of time and money.
