Dumb? It's spot on true. Advertising doesn't equal quality.

My experience as well, Kimber's are pretty and I always want to think they have improved the internals. But it's just not the case, plenty of better options in that $$ range although I do think they sell plenty of pistols as well.

I wouldn't trust a Kimber for use as a paper weight.

I bought one during their external extractor years and that was a HUGE mistake. After sending it back 3 times I finally got them to trade it for a 4" Compact that has been great (internal extractor). I'm a 1911 fan, but I only own one Kimber and I have no plans to get another.
