    My 4lb AR range build

just under 4 lbs. without mag.

16" Faxon pencil w/ thread protector and Superlative arms adj. gas block - this adj. gas block can block traditionally, can be full open (no adjustment), or preferred - bleed off excess
Aero Precision upper (not really lightweight, 8oz, looking to replace with a lighter upper), std, not the one with integrated barrel nut
AIM Surplus lwbcg 8.9 oz., range only
Aero Precision 9" MLOK handguards with barrel nut, about 8 oz.
NFA poly lower (came with lpk installed), range only
    MFT minimalist stock
1 oz buffer (one single aluminum weight in a carbine buffer) - range only, although has worked 100% for me with adj. gas
    MBUS sights

Local range only goes to ~ 50 yards but I usually shoot at about 25 with the mbus. adj. gas works great, as I can cycle wolf, tul, several types of bronze. Have about 200 rounds through it, no duds or FTEs, or short stroking. Looking to find a slickside lower weight upper, and possibly replace the poly lower with a MAG low weight lower.

AP stuff was mostly cosmetic blem specials, barrel was $180, gas block $100, overall maybe around $700 for this build.

I'll try to find a photo host site, but it's pretty plain looking, the first thing noticeable is the gas block hanging outside the short rails. Plans in the next couple of weeks will be more interesting - 13" rails to cover the gas block at same weight with alum barrel nut, mag lower instead of NFA poly, and hopefully same weight with lightweight dsa upper.

Tagged to subscribe--this may give some inspiration for lightening the front half of my own pistol build I'm planning, though mine is aimed to be a little heavier with added tail-weight for balance.

Hmmm... I wonder if you could mount a couple rails and CAA mag carriers on a buffer tube? I suppose a Mall Ninja could just ziptie a couple sections of cheap plastic rail on... then again, I could also see MacGyver doing the same if he ever decided to Grow a Pair and get over his Clinical Hoplophobia.

@ OP: I use Photobucket, but with their uptick in constant badgering about "Upgrade to Premium" I'm starting to look for a new image-host to move to as well.

Host with Flickr or Imgur. Both are free and without constant bullshit like Photobucket. Flickr is what I use.

He'll need a hydraulic buffer ASAP.

Actually it has very low recoil as long as holding tight, reciprocating mass is lower, gas force is lower.

I was saying that "tongue in cheek" considering the cartridge.

Haha, yeah, I still flinch with 5.56 though, this lightening gas stuff doesn't minimize the initial bang, although some have measured a slower velocity with bleed off adj gas
