Home "re-built". It started out as one of those 10.5" PSA uppers...

that's now just a barrel, front sight, charging handle, and gas tube.

Shot the piss out of it over the weekend. Took another carbine course, this time with my wife. She had to drop out the last 90 minutes or so due to exhibiting heat exhaustion symptoms though. Colt 6960 and Colt 6920HB, 0 malfunctions, didn't even add lube since the last time I cleaned them and doused the BCGs in RemOil a couple of weeks ago. Yeah, I know. Our guns should have immediately seized up because RemOil is akin to water. I'm just trying to finish the bottle off.

Just took delivery of BCM C8 SFW upper (happy birthday to me, LOL). Need to get it up the hill to my smith neighbor and see about getting the BCM compensator swapped for an A2--good luck setting up a vise in a studio apartment. (This is not a knock against BCM--I'm sure their Gunfighter comp is a fine piece of hardware, it's just not "clone correct" for a C8A3.)

A small seed from which great things shall (I hope) someday grow, in both a rifle and a relationship...

Lower and pistol tube are both loaners, grip and handguard need refinishing, TD pins and mag catch are awaiting specialized parts I don't have yet, no BCG yet, but you can see a shape of things to come.

I took my 11.3" pistol out to confirm zero after I discovered the Troy front sight was loose after zeroing it last week due to no loctite (amature...). The weather conditions were perfect to get a nice muzzle flash on every shot.
Last week I used a borrowed H2 buffer, this week I tried an H1. The lighter buffer moved the ejection pattern from 4 to 3 o'clock with the same ammunition, so I am going to pick up an H2 buffer or more tungsten weights for it.
I have not seen such a dramatic difference between 2 buffer weights, it's interesting to me. The pistol was still perfectly reliable and recoil did not feel any different to me.
Now I am smoking 2 racks of ribs and will be grilling some hamburgers and corn on the cob (in the husk).

Tested several 77gr factory rounds and current hand load. The 5 round groups were .5 to .74 at 100 yds. I was surprised that there wasn't more of a difference. Will try this again at 200 and 300 in the next couple of weeks.

Wife and kids got me a second TLR that I had forgotten all about in our amazon cart. Slid the front site back and put it as far forward as I could.

With my BA Hanson 11.3 I went with a h1 and a enhanced flat wire recoil spring (for reduced spring noise) and it’s runs awesome. Ejection is perfect and it’s a blast to shoot.

Also family got got me a Trijjicon MRO Patrol for the holiday.

I am used to red dots and scopes now, iron sights are a challenge to shoot small groups with. Even though ejection was a little farther forward than I liked, the brass looks great.

I am very happy with the barrel.

I had a 14.5 that was ejecting at about 2 o'clock with an H buffer, and was getting the occasional failure to lock open on the last round due to, I suspect, cycling so fast it was "outrunning" the magazine follower. I switched to an H2 and the gun started ejecting at around 3 o'clock and the failures to lock open seem to have stopped.
