Decided to change the gas tube on my first/oldest AR for reasons. Had to remove the Centurion C4 rail, which I installed 6-7 years ago. Rounded off the smaller front screws, both of them. An extractor hex key hammered into the first one worked like a charm. Not so on the other one. Had to dremel a slot for a flathead. Prettttty sure that's red loctite in there. Well, that was dumb of whoever installed the rail. Going to bump the buffer up to an H2 and replace the action spring with a Sprinco blue as well (6920) as part of the makeover

Installed the strange Canadian ambi-latch on the C8, and removed the furniture in prep to have it refinished.

I got the furniture back from cerakote and finished my first AR10 build. Tiger stripe looks great. Too much snow and cold to hit the range. I’ll post a pick in the the beyond 5.56 gallery soon.

I was inspired by the Help-Me-Update-My-Gun thread so today I contemplated what changes if, any I wanted to make to our stable after shooting over the last year:

-Wife wants to lose some weight from her rifle, looking into a lighter optic/mount combo

-Youngest son's optic is unnecessarily heavy and limited (PA 3x prism), looking into a lighter LPVO or red dot + magnifier I'll discuss with him his preference

-Oldest son has discovered that he is cross eye dominant, looking into adding ambi features for him. I also really want him to ditch the shitty Strike rail and rattletrap stock but he likes them...

-I discovered some issues with my RMR in a training course: in bright overhead sunlight it's possible for me to lose my dot, looking into a micro tube optic with wide FOV that's still lightweight

    In general:

-Force on force sim & tac medicine course for wife and I

-The kids are getting good/old enough that an upgraded trigger might be beneficial probably 2 more ALGs are in order

-I'm going to test out one of those cheap knock off Norgons from A.U.

-I'm probably going to throw a Radian Raptor on everything

-I kinda want to chop my barrel but too lazy to try MDs to find one that I can live with

-I need to build up an inventory of spare parts/springs

    -always more ammo

    1. Me too
    2. If good enough to move past a GI trigger, just get an MBT
    3. Good to go, though I prefer the Troy for a bolt on option
    4. Did the same, good move

Received my upper parts kits to replace the forward assist roll pin I dropped in the grass when duracoating the upper/lower. Finally completed and now time to shoot.

Finished swapping my Aero APR mount for a LT204 and leveled it.

I installed a Geissele safety and tested it out. Put the Milspec back in. It was way to stiff and hard to manipulate.

Sorry to hear that. Did you try to trouble shoot it? Here are some things I'd look at:

    1) Compare springs - is the 'mil-spec' spring the same diameter and length? If there is any difference in length count coils - there should be 28. Try each spring to make sure they seat to the same depth in the pistol grip.

    2) Compare detent pins - are they the same profile? Maybe try the detent pin from the 'mil-spec' safety with the 'G' safety.

    3) Lube the safety with a good quality grease - I pack the cups and channels that the detent rides in with Brian Enos Slide Glide, but any good grease will work. I usually have to remove some grease from the out side of the receiver as I work the safety.

    4) Wear the parts in - spend some time just flipping the switch, so to speak. This may improve a stiff selector.

Nothing that I personally did but just picked up my first BCM lower. It's a "blem" but I have yet to find the blem. Their quality control is top notch.
