Lightbulb Ned Christiansen: Three-Piece Grip Safety for M1911

During my usual prowl throught the USPTO website for new patents and published applications, I found the following application from Ned Christiansen:

    http://appft1.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-...DN/20080222935

I understand the principle of keeping the tang/tail immobile. For instance, I've seen some Bruce Gray pistols where it looks like he cut the tail off of a beavertail grip safety, and welded it to the frame. The rest of the safety was then usable as normal. But that looks a hell of a lot of work. My only questions about Ned's version are how well will it work for left-handed use and will it pinch?

Cant wait to see that, if Ned figured it out I am sure it will be cool. He is as outside the box as they come.

I am sure Ned will answer for himself, but I did ask him this question before. His answer was that it works well for shooting with either hand. I didn't ask about pinching. I plan on getting this done when my name comes up on Ned's list.
