    Does ANYONE offer optic rentals?

I'm in the market for optics for a pair of AR's. Both are 16" carbines (one 5.56 and one 9mm, built to be as identical to each other as possible) and I would like to get optics for both so they're both ready to go without re-zeroing.

Since whatever optic I'll be buying, will likely be bought in duplicate eventually, I'd like to know that I'm getting the RIGHT optic for me.

I'm essentially between two... Aimpoint PRO and various EOTech models. I know I like red dots, but I'm curious if I'd prefer the EOTech better.

I'd like to try one of each before committing.

Instead of doing the buy one of each and sell what I don't like, I'm wondering if there's anyone out there that rents out optics to try before buying. I know some companies in the camera industry do it, as well as companies in the gunsmithing world rent out reamers in the same manner.

Is there any hope? Or is buy both and sell one to buy the other the best advice out there currently?

Between those two, the overwhelming consensus will be to buy 2 Aimpoint pros and be done with it, and I agree.

In regards to rentals, maybe a local range that has a rental counter for rifles? They might have one of both on rentals you can try

^^^What he said^^^ Especially considering EOTech's problems of late. If you decide to go with a dot at least take a look at the MRO.

There should be a few stores in your area for testing eotech and aimpoint, they are pretty common optics. The rental deal is a great idea for other hard to find/test scopes like the Leupold MK8 & MK6, Shit & Bendover, USO, Swaro Z6i, Steiner, etc...

I have thought of this idea for years. Need a lot of capital to make it work (as a business).

Would love to see a rental program. In the camera world, companies do it for high end lenses which probably take more of a beating than a trip to the range. I asked Leupold if they were willing. Nope.

I'd love to see something like that set up. But you're right, it's a HUGE capital output and hectic logistics.

Makes sense that a manufacturer wouldn't, they're just not geared up that way.

I can test them on a blue gun, just not a live fire gun. And that's what I'd like to do to see if the 68 MOA circle really leads to faster target acquisition or not.

That's how I'm leaning, but I know I'll always have that nagging "what if" if I don't even try.
