Since the Omega rail is so easy to install, is it mounted as solid as the models installed by the more complicated method? In other words, if I get an Omega rail just because it's easer to install, will I wish later that I had spent another half hour and installed one of the other models?

I seriously doubt you would ever end up with any problems with either rail.

Now if we could only get Daniel Defense to bring back the holes on the lower part of the DD Lite rail.

I got one of the last 10" DD Lite's with the holes, thanks to John at Rainier Arms, and it's a beauty. My only problem now is that I'm torn on what to mount it on since I know I can't get another one like it.

I emailed DD about it and I'd encourage everyone else to do the same.

I've yet to hear anyone really voice that they prefer the new version. Not a big deal either way, but given the option, I would go with the old style.

Same here. At best, I've seen folks express no preference.

Like you said, it's not a big deal, but the old version is much nicer. In fact, I'd happily pay the slight cost difference to keep the additional machining steps and get the nicer finished product.

To me, it is akin to the car companies saying that there was no price increase for the new model year, when in reality they removed a half-dozen small items from the vehicle to cut costs.

With all that said, they're still the nicest rails on the market.

If you look at the photos of the Lite rails in Stick's links, you'll see a row of holes along the flat just above the bottom rail and on the flat just below the top rail. They did away with the bottom row of holes.

I'll bet Stick has a few photos of both types. He's got photos of everything else.

I went through the gunevolution website. so basically. the allen set screws just "push" on the barrel nut to make it free float? doesn't anybody think this is flimsy?

won't it break the barrel nut if you overtighten the allen set screws?

Maybe you need to find someone near you that has one. It's not at all flimsy.

If you're concerned about it, go with the Lite.

One set screw keeps a pistols sight in place.
