IWI Galil Ace in 5.56x45 is now available

IWI now has the Galil Ace in 5.56x45 available. There's nothing wrong with the 7.62x39 or 308Win, but I've been waiting for the 5.56x45 version. The rifles were first to ship, but now they've started shipping the pistols. I ordered a pistol from grabagun.com for $1425 shipped. I'm definitely planning on SBR'ing it, but will post up some pictures when I receive it. It will be interesting to compare it to my krinks, Sig556 SBR and Micro Galil.

I will say that the 5.56 AK in modern format is the most overlooked platform on the market. It is piston fed, it has a hammer forged chrome lined barrel, it can fire underwater, it can survive twenty foot falls onto concrete, it can run with half of cup of sand dumped in the receiver- it can go through far more torture than just about any other 5.56NATO rifle on the market.

The Ace in 7.62x39 has some appeal to me. In 308, it really has my attention. But in 5.56mm, weighing 7.5 lbs empty, I'm not seeing the appeal over a standard AR like a Colt 6920 or even over a Tavor or an X95.

I wouldn't say it appeals to me over other rifles. It appeals to me in addition to other rifles.

Here's an AK, an AR, and a Tavor.

Granted the AK is in 7.62x39 but it showcases it's reliability over the others.

This. I shoot and collect. Some guns are for defensive use, while others are just fun to own and/or part of my personal reference collection. The 5.56 ACE is intriguing to me as a member of the latter category.

The ACE pistol is a nice little package. I've only shot the 7.62x39 version, great with a dot.

Sorry, but not sorry for the necro post. Not that many posts about it, so I decided to revive this.

I saw one posted for sale, but it already sold. After watching some videos, I got hyped up and decided to order one.

I've seen people say both good and somewhat not so good stuff about it, but I wanted to try it out for myself.
