    JFreuler,

Any updates on the S&W VTAC carbine? How is it holding up?

I disected one of these up at Cabelas. Damn nice rifle. My only point of concern was the trigger. I'm not sure I'd want set screws on a duty rifle.
I'd like to hear the long term report on this one as well.

The one we sold had a standard carrier (not a JP carrier).

Now that you've had the gun for a few months.....anything that really stands out to the VTAC model as compared to other AR platform's that you've used (likes / dis-likes)?

How did this model hold up in the Tiger Swan class?

    Take care and be safe

Any further on this model as far as the above question? Do you recommend the VTAC over a 15T? Curious as to where your at with it.
    Thanks!

    Very nice.

I said a while ago I was done buying. Well, saving for 3rd AR. The force is strong with that one.

Please give some feedback on the handguard and light system after sticktime.

    THanks.

    Wink

I've had my VTAC about 4 months now. Great rifle. I also have a factory-built JP Enterprises rifle, and I have set it aside since getting the S&W. The VTAC will do almost everything that the JP will, for half the price.

The trigger is phenominal. The VTAC/JP handguard is awsome...put the rails where you need them and want them, not where they will eat your hands. The VTAC light mount is great. It allows you to put it anywhere as well. I traded the G2 light out for a LED version for better battery life.

I've shot 55gr. ammo out to 300 yards and it performed just fine in the 1/7 barrel. That was my only concern, but it was unfounded.

I carry the VTAC as my duty rifle, the only additions were Troy BUIS's and an Aimpoint M4 in a LaRue mount, and a Hogue pistol grip.

The VLTOR stock is as expected...solid as a rock.

I'd love to get my hands on a Surefire suppressor to attach to the SF flash hider.....

Just to add on here, I spoke to JFreuler via PM. He has been super busy with work but threw me a few updates on his VTAC M&P rifle. Long story short, he has taken it thru a what I believe was the VTAC nightfighter class and he had zero issues with it. He went on to say that the trigger is awesome and has stood up to some hard use. Nonetheless, it has had zero malfunctions caused by the rile and its very light. I am hoping he chimes in to give us the full run down when he has some time.

So far the rifle has been performing well beyond my expectations. It has made it through a Tiger Swan, EAG Carbine Operators, VTAC Street Fighter and part of a VTAC Night Fighter class without any issues related to the rifle. Considering whats included with the rifle I feel you get a lot for the money. During the Night Fighter class I mostly ran my new duty rifle which is an M&P-15 with a 14.5" barrel. The only change I made with the duty rifle for the class is I used an EoTech instead of the Aimpoint.
