I'd say it all depends on the quality of the added years for the recipient and those around him/her. If it slows degenerative processes like say dementia then yay!! If it adds 60% more crapping yourself and being a sad wretch then **** that shit.

    Well stated ...

FWIW I've reading quite a bit lately about the effects of the 'oxidation' process on the body as we age, and/or diseases like Alzheimers, mostly articles from super foodies. But the evidence does show the benefits of the Mediterranean diet and while I forget the compound, a food like spinach sauted in olive oil releases or promotes the compound that staves off or fights the free radicals that advance the disease ... and aging process.

To me, the thought about 'oxidation' being at the root of many of the aging issues is a neat concept. We can all think of items used in our daily lives that age and deterioate due to oxidizing ... dull paint on an old car left in the sun, old pieces of elastomers or rubber that are no longer pliable or useful and no longer seal, etc.
Given that 10-shots are a group and 5-shots may be a favorable trend ... know that just one good 3-shot group can make you an instant internet superstar!

Free radicals are part of the aging process, but it's also not something we can live without, so while controlling oxidation by free radicals via anti oxidants is important, it's not the key to aging and an out dated model of aging as the primary cause it was once viewed.

Instead starting a new thread, gonna post this here as it does pertain sorta to the OP:

Just posted my write up of this anti aging/longevity conference I attended:

Aging and dying sucks. That should be the motto of RAADFest, the conference that explores the very cutting edge of anti aging/longevity research and therapies. I, being a politically incorrect jerk, would used that motto, because it’s true, but the RAADFest organizers have chosen the motto “Take your place in the revolution against aging and death” which is more descriptive than my motto I suppose. The goal of RAADFest is to explore “radical” life extension via the latest technologies as well as look at emerging and future technologies. This goes way past things like good nutrition, supplements and exercise, all of which can help slow aging and prevent the diseases of aging, none will stop it.

The ultimate goal of RAADFest and its speakers and attendees, is to put an end to aging and death, and that may in fact be a reality sooner than many realize. The overall tone of RAADFest being one of “transhumanism” which is “the belief or theory that the human race can evolve beyond its current physical and mental limitations, especially by means of science and technology.” Assuming we don’t snuff ourselves out as a species in the coming decades due to being short sighted and small minded, the transhumanism movement will be science fact vs. fiction according to many scientists. I tend to agree.

Now getting traction outside the "fringe" anti aging researchers and self experimenters.

Is This the Anti-Aging Pill We’ve All Been Waiting For?
A drug derived from an Easter Island bacterium extends the life of lab animals. People could be next.

Can a pill make you younger?

One of the few drug studies ever carried out in an attempt to address this question was reported by Novartis on Christmas Eve 2014. The company had sought to see whether giving low doses of a drug called everolimus to people over 65 increased their response to flu vaccines.

It did, by about 20 percent. Yet behind the test was a bigger question about whether any drug can slow or reverse the symptoms of old age. Novartis’s study on everolimus, which looked at whether the immune system of elderly people could be made to act younger, has been called the “first human aging trial.”

Last week a Boston company, PureTech Health, said it was licensing two drug molecules, and the right to use them against aging-related disease, from Novartis and making the research the basis of a startup company, resTORbio. The company says it will further test whether such drugs can rejuvenate aged immune cells.

The drug Novartis tested is a derivative of rapamycin, a compound first discovered oozing from a bacterium native to Easter Island, or Rapa Nui, and named after it.
