All 6 of my surefire SOCOM suppressors exhibit this. Even on a bolt gun, you can see it. It comes back through the index slot on the MD. This is the only spot on the taper surface that would allow gas to come through. If you are looking at it side by side with say a thunderbeast suppressor with the large taper surface, it does not have an index slot and seals the muzzle device to the suppressor 360 degrees. If the surefire did not have an index slot and the taper mount surface went 360 around, it would not leak any gas out either. Non issue and normal behavior for this system. Keep on shooting.

Also, for best results, keep the taper surfaces clean on both the MD and suppressor. I run my finger over both with fireclean before and after shooting. Also mount the suppressor with the muzzle up, for the best results. I do this with all of my suppressors now for the best consistency.

Mine does the exact thing the OP is describing. Exact. Complete with carbon build up on rail and my support hand. Again, it's normal on SOCOMS.

Alright it doesn't sound like anything I need to be terribly worried about.
    Thanks.
