Just saw an Eagle Maritime CIRAS on evilBay for $200, and wondering if it's a viable alternate to a $300 BAE RBAV-AF carrier building my "Representational 0311 Kit." Worth considering--and if so would a Medium fit my short-and-stout frame which takes a Size 42 suitjacket and Size 44 overcoat?--or is this more "Scream And Run Away" than "Screaming Deal" for my purposes?

Bear in mind, I'm an academic building a "teaching kit," if I get the chance to put my theories into practice I want my students to experience both the good AND the bad of issue gear firsthand for themselves. Neither of these options would be my choice for building a "best civilian money can buy" Serious Work kit, but I'm looking at it more as "teaching gear that COULD be pressed into service if needed."

I have more armor carriers than I can count, but the CIRAS is still one of my favorites. I have one in MC, and one in RG. I also have a RBAV. I like them all, but the CIRAS is still a go to for me.

Board policy mandates I state that I shoot for BCM. I have also done work for 200 or so manufacturers within the firearm community. I am prior service, a full time LEO, firearm instructor, armorer, TL, martial arts instructor, and all around good guy.

I also shoot and write for various publications. Let me know if you know cool secrets or have toys worthy of an article...

Nice to see ammo prices coming down, especially in 9mm. I'm paying 30 cents a round locally, and that isn't even buying a full case. My guy says price are slowly coming down across the board. I notice we are seeing a lot more ammunition companies pumping out ammo right now, which is a good thing. I think prices still have a long way to go in order to be realistic for most shooters, and for anyone who has forgotten, ammo is going to get a lot more scarce as we near the next Presidential election.

Wait for prices to come down before you stack stocking up deep, but don't wait for too long. Its that magic balancing act that most of us seem get caught short on.

Good to know they'd work in Home D--if you were trying to run a Living History program like I'm trying for of "Live A Day in the Rockpile," which would you strap your students into for a Typical Grunt Experience?
