Until the end of the month, if you have a Sportsman's Warehouse nearby they have XM855LPC120 on-shelf for $39.99 pre-tax. I wouldn't call it a GREAT price, but for brick-and-mortar... my target for M855 is usually around 35 cents a round, and that came out close enough back-of-envelope.

M855 is crappy ammo. Not only is this ammo a better buy, but also VASTLY superior: http://www.gandrtactical.com/CBC-556...rds_p_771.html

In my stupidity, I completely blanked on this ammo and wasted the same amount of money on less M855. I'd of much rather not had to deal with the steel core in M855 while keeping a similar trajectory. :/

Grant, it doesn't look like that ammo has crimped primers. Am I right?

You can faintly see a "stab" crimp if you zoom in.

The best thing I've seen green tip do is chew up steel targets.

That said, I wish I could get ANYTHING useful in 5.56 for $125 a K-count!

Isn't tungsten-core usually considered "Too Dangerous For Pissant Proles" AP, though? I could be misunderstanding or misremembering...
The tungsten is powdered and compressed, so it won't fill any AP roles. Aside from 5.56, we don't see tungsten in any commercial ammo that I can think of off hand.

Blue is a specialty color for training ammo, which is what the role of this ammunition is. I confess I would like to take this out hog hunting, as it appears to still pack quite a bit of clout, but I will need to see what sort of range I can get out of it.

The big thing for me is price. I've got to see how this stuff does, and then I'll beg Mrs Stick to increase the ammo allocation funding....

I hear ya on that one, amigo--the big reason that green-tip find was a big deal for me was I generally don't have the cash-flow for case-lots at a time, and even that was a splurge. Being a freelancer AND having an aging-disgracefully parent to take care of has a similar way of putting a cramp on one's budget...
