I just ordered two of these, one for myself, and one for a friend. I know that 8Cr13MoV stainless is not considered the ideal steel, but it will hold up well to humidity, getting wet, and bloody or whatever else. Large aggressive teeth should make rope cutting a breeze, and larger teeth are much easier to sharpen. Lastly, the knife opens as a flipper, and I honestly have a hard time figuring out why more makers aren't going this route. Finger tips and tips of your finger are no way to open a knife. 4" blade length on this one.

Normal price $100, on sale for $30. 4" blade length on this one.

CRKT Helical Folding Knife 3.52" Tanto blade

D2 Tool Steel makes up this blade, and D2 has been a long time favorite of mine. D2 is no longer a top end steel, but it is as good as it ever was. D2 might not be the easier to sharpen, but it takes a great edge, and cuts for a very long time. This knife is also a flipper, which is a huge plus in my book.

Normal $90, on sale for $30.

I purchased CRKT knifes for a few years and had about 10 different models at one point. They all fell apart and are sitting in a box, unusable. I got tired of sending them back for repair and asking CRKT for screws. Their knives are inexpensive for a reason.

I've never had that problem with any of mine. Seems like we have owned different models, or your luck has been unusually bad. Its also possible we bought them in different time frames, and quality changed during those points.

I have been using CRKT knives as my EDC for several years since they aren’t too expensive (no tears if lost, unlike my Spyderco Meerkat that I retired because it is unreplaceable) and they hold up well. I have never had one fail and they keep an edge.

Interesting that the ones that were $8-9 each and free shipping on 5+ seem to have been discontinued and replaced with identical product under new SKU with no bundling--PSA seems to be moving "mag deals" to house-branded Amend2's or MOE PMAG.

Interesting find: With a little creative packing, and despite being made in Chinese sweatshops, MidwayUSA's 12-mag cases are good for 15 or 16 with a little creativity--I picked some up using the "birthday special discount" they give you plus a free-shipping code for more discreet movement in and out of the studio than ammo-cans, and they seem like they'd make pretty good carriers for a "grab and go" package. (Once we get the Mag Ban insanity spiked my roadmap for each rifle is one set in LBE with the rifle, one set in an 8-mag carrier, dedicated training set in the range bag, two loaded sets in a Go Bag like these, two empty sets in an ammo can. Once a set gets emptied, the Spare gets pulled up, the first seat from the ready-bag gets pulled up into Spare, the first set of empties get loaded and pulled up into Ready and the fresh empties go into the back of the rotation. For some reason my mother thinks fifty mags per gun is excessive... she's also the kind who thinks Preventative Maintenance is a scam despite seeing from NTSB reports on plane-crashes through work at Boeing what happens when you DON'T practice PM like a religion.)
