So these are in the "OEM parts" category, i.e., not Colt per se but the same manufacturer that made them for Colt?

At any rate, for eight bucks apiece I ordered a couple. They can be range toy beaters if nothing else.

Before larger/ fatter handguards were used on Colt carbines, the original thin ones were used, which were only single heat shield. It appears that is what these are, which means they are GTG.

What I had hoped. I gather from various sources that the skinny handguards have fallen out of favor and that you have to go looking for them. I want them as spares for a 6720 I just ordered.

Arms Unlimited has Colt assembled lowers for $275 again, this time rollmarked as LE6940-P Piston Carbines, and LE6921 14.5" uppers with Matechs for $595.

Tempting for a "non-SBR M4 Pistol" build I'm considering, but Matech is yesterday's news as far as "current issue" and I can probably do just as well from BCM for a hundred bucks less.

Also, Ohio Ordnance Works has NOS complete FN M16A4 uppers (including RAS and milsurp BCG) for $595.

Has/had Colt just been clearing old inventory for the past year? Brownell’s now has their Colt lowers marked “discontinued.”
